DRAC

Dose Rate and Age Calculator

DRAC is designed to calculate environmental dose rates (Ḋ) and ages for trapped charge dating applications. It's applicable to OSL, TL, and some ESR applications, providing standardized calculations with transparent methods.

The Rationale of DRAC

  • 01

Facilitate inter-laboratory comparisons of Ḋ determinations

  • 02

Reduce the potential of mathematical error in the Ḋ calculation process

  • 03

Allow easy and controlled sensitivity testing

  • 04

Represent an ongoing collation of datasets and resources

  • 05

Be a resource for students, teachers, and newcomers to the discipline

DRAC Aims

Comprehensive Calculations

Provide Ḋ calculation for quartz, feldspar, and polymineral samples, over a grain size range of 1 – 1000 μm

User-Friendly Interface

Be easy to use and provide a clear calculation process, with minimum assumptions and maximum user flexibility

Open Access

Be an open access research tool, which is continually updated with the latest datasets and tools

Research Stimulation

Stimulate further Ḋ research and collaboration within the community

DRAC 2.0 is an upgrade of the original DRAC which was designed and developed by Julie Durcan and Georgina King.

We welcome feedback, suggestions, and collaborations from the trapped charge dating community.
